The world is not changed by going to church. The world is changed by being the Church. I love going to church. I’m an extrovert, so I love the buzz of the people talking, greeting each other and the laughter shared! I love the music. It stirs my soul. I love a rousing message and the way the Holy Spirit can interpret the ancient Scripture preached into the language my present soul needs to hear…
Alas, The world is not changed by going to church. The world is changed by being the Church. The first step to “being” the Church is introducing others to Jesus through our attitude, actions – our wild love for others – and our words! It’s how the world was changed at the beginning of this wild movement Jesus started, called the Church:
John the Baptist introduced Andrew to Jesus (John 1:35–36); Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus (v.41) and Philip introduced Nathanael to Jesus (v.45). Nathanael was suspicious at first, but then he came and immediately found that Jesus really was the Son of God (v.49).
Peter is one of the Church’s greatest influencer’s ever! Maybe you won’t ever be a “Peter,” but we can all be an Andrew? Andrew introduced PETER to Jesus! (What might of happened if he didn’t?) When we introduce others to Jesus, he begins to change everything in their lives, for the good! When people meet the real Jesus, even suspicious “Nathanael’s” come to see that Jesus is the son of God!
Going to church is good. Being the Church changes everything!
