Captivating Communication (part 3)

Fearless Public Speaking?

I have met so many amazing youth leaders who love young people, but are fearful to talk in front of groups. I’ve also met some youth pastors and leaders who can talk fearlessly in front of crowds of teens, but freeze-with-fear when they speak in front of “adults.”

One key factor in growing our youth groups/student ministries and our local church, is the ability to speak before small, medium and large audiences. If our fear keeps us from speaking in front of others, this is one hurdle we should learn to overcome — for the sake of others.

The truth is that most people have anxiety over public speaking, Jerry Seinfeld said this concerning the epidemic:

“According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

While Seinfeld’s comment is hilariously true, the sad reality is that many people will never reach their full potential because they’ll never break through this ever so prevailing fear of public speaking.

Several years ago, I developed a FREE online video-course to address this very issue; it’s entitled Fearless Public Speaking. The goal of this course is to teach the mindset one needs to speak to any audiences of any size—fearlessly. Hundreds of people have taken this free course and have overcome their lifelong public speaking anxiety.

The online course comes with downloadable worksheets and fill-in-the-blank notes. These valuable tools were added to boost retention of the information you’ll be exposed to in the course and to serve as a quick reference guide for future speaking opportunities!

Please feel free to use the Fearless Public Speaking course for your own personal use or take some of your key youth leaders and students through it.
